The A-Sides: Going Gone (7" single)
[Prison Jazz]

Meet the A-Sides. They are a self-incriminating group of striplings from Philadelphia with a good grip on the lifestyle of a mod. The four-piece churns out innocent-sounding ditties full of enough "yeah's" and "hey's" to fool anyone into thinking that the year is 1966. What we have in "Seeing Suzy" is a fine ode to all the great British Invasion bands just before they all got psychedelic on us. The song is a modest attempt at re-creating a sound that countless other bands imitate as well, but the A-Sides remain endearing as they aren't just rehashing the same Muddy Waters and Wille Dixon songs that became standards in that era. The B-side, "Going Gone," is in line with the rock n' roll fascination with riding in automobiles and going wild while at it. In short, your life won't be greatly enhanced by picking up this single, but you will undoubtedly vivify the ambiance the next time you are entertaining guests.
