Airtight Garage: Felangus Box/Coelacanth
[Downtime]

When a band has been making music for as long as Airtight Garage without making even a moderate splash, youve got to wonder why they keep it up.  Maybe its the free drinks at shows, maybe its the girls (not likely), or maybe they really just like playing music.  In any case, there is a reason why they havent had any success in the last eleven years theyre just not any good.

I could say that in fifteen different ways, I could dress it up in complicated and impressive verbiage, but really it just boils down to the fact that Airtight Garage is just plain horrible.  There is nothing good to say about them.  Their lyrics are silly and sophomoric, their singer does indeed sound like a deaf, immature Lou Reed, but is that really a good thing?  Also, Im pretty sure they dont know how to play any of their instruments.  Airtight Garage could be compared to several different bands, but it is really difficult to make any real comparisons. Most bands I would compare them to are so unbelievably better than Airtight Garage that any comparison makes about as much sense as comparing a piano recital by a one armed retarded kid who cant read music to Mozart.

Sure, maybe they are going for a Feelies type sound here, or a rawer Replacements rocker there, but really it just sounds like a bunch of rats fighting each other in an echo chamber.

Dedication to your art and perseverance in the face of failure are all noble things, but you also have to know when its time to try something else.   Airtight Garage is an experiment that failed miserably.  Its now time to pick up the pieces and do something different.  The people at the bars in Bloomington deserve better.
