Angry Amputees: Slut Bomb
[Dead Teenager]

The band is called Angry Amputees, and the album is called Slut Bomb.  First impression:  attention-hungry, offensive punk rockers.  Then I listened to the CD.  They sound like the Muffs, but they want you to think they sound like a cross between No Doubt and Operation Ivy.  The music only reaches a 1.5 on the ten point scale of offensiveness, thus shattering my first impression.  I thought the bands name was for pure shock value.  It may be, but at least they can back it up; their bass player has no legs or fingers.  Apparently he has a sense of humor about it too, since the cursor on their website is shaped like a stumpy hand.

So what exactly is a slut bomb?  The band never elaborates on the subject.  Is it a bomb that blankets a target area with sluts, or is it a bomb that only kills sluts?  Maybe its just one slut that explodes?  We may have to wait for their sophomore release for clarification.

Cheap punk, produced by Jack Endino.  Female vocals (except for one song) occasionally sporting a fake British accent (why do American punks do that?).  Nothing special.  The lyrics are even less special.  Did you know that George W. Bush smokes crack, his grandfather worked for Hitler, and his dad killed JFK?  I didnt.  So what this album lacks in musical originality, it makes up for in educational value.

When your bass player has no legs or fingers, you have to milk that gimmick for all its worth.  Angry Amputees do this well, but unfortunately thats all they have going for them.
