Army Navy: Self-Titled EP
[Fever Zone]

This debut EP is a smartly-constructed group of pop songs from a West coast band that certainly has a knack for writing strong rock music.  The band sites a number of British pop heroes as influences, and it makes a lot of sense when you hear their songs.  Hooks and tempo changes abound, but if I had to compare Army Navy to a band it would probably be an American comrade like Longwave or The Connells.  Longwave, because the singers voice is a dead ringer for that bands singer, which as it turns out, is a good thing.  The lyrics in both bands are of secondary importance, but the singing catches the rhythm of the music very well, which is all that really matters.  In the mood and the music, The Connells come to mind, just because of the lighter tone these guys sometimes create with their sound.

Theres only four tracks on this EP, but Army Navy is label-shopping, and I wouldnt be surprised if even a major with open ears might be interested.  Im not really sure thats the right place for them, but theyve made a strong debut that many rock fans would do well to check out.
