BALSA GLIDERS

The Balsa Gliders are a witty jangle pop band residing in Washington DC with roots in North Carolina, Virginia and elsewhere in the South.  Forming officially in 1998, the band traveled to Charlotte to record the EP, Undefeated in Apex, and released it on their own Stm Records.  In October of 2001, the Balsa Gliders officially signed with the Boston-based Intelligent Records and recorded Cookout.  Even though their drummer resides in Mongolia, the Balsa Gliders plan to tour the Northeast in the coming months to promote the new album.  Influences include Bob Mould, Sebadoh, Stephen Malkmus, Flaming Lips, Wilco, REM, Let's Active, the Connells, and for the most part, that whole slew of Southern indie college rock.
