Cantwell Gomez & Jordan/The Nein: To Love the Unlovely/Auto-Destructive Dance Routine (split 7" single)
[Sit-'N-Spin]

A-side: A full-on, charged attack not far from the Minutemen. With punk being left shattered, soaked on the floor, this is post-punk the picking up and reassembling of angular, tossed aside shards of kinetic pieces. Cantwell, Gomez and Jordan have achieved the gluing together and harnessing of a brilliant stained glass window of wild, flailing energy. Artsy, time-shifting post-punk. Yes. Great players.

B-side: The Neins sound is also broken and crooked, but with more melodic vocals. The music skips, spurs and spirals book-ended on either side with creepy noise manipulations and beats, giving it a bit more of a dense atmosphere. The music incites a claustrophobic, vertigo feeling, but the vocals soar, keeping everything smooth. The singer has a beat-vibe to his singing at times, not unlike Mike Doughty. This is a really interesting, experimental track, and I want to hear more from these guys.

Get this, 7s are fun.
