Daniel Carlson: Now EP
[Apt Zero]

Daniel Carlsons new album is a meandering collection of acid-lounge melancholia with gentle offerings in the vein of Burt Bacharach and The Carpenters, but with emphasis on mood over melody. Think Becks Everybodys Gotta Learn Sometime, from the Eternal Sunshine soundtrack).  There are only four songs here, save an instrumental, but you get the point.

Tina is a bit slow and lounge-y to have real impact, but you can hear a really good Wild Honey-era Beach Boys song in it if you listen closely.  He fares better with I Want You to Know, and you know what? Its kind of nice to sit back and close your eyes to this one.  He doesnt have the best pipes, but you can feel the guy.
