Day 15: Life
[Big House]

OMG!!! Molly Ringwald just kissed that way-cute senior and that dorky kid whos in love with her is sooooooo bummed.

Such are the images conjured by Day 15s EP Life, yet another recent resurrection of all things 1980s. Opening track Chains of the Nation is, down to the measure, KC & The Sunshine Bands Please Dont Go spliced with Run-DMC & Aerosmiths Walk This Way a shout-out to two hits of yesteryear, and a track that would fit neatly into a climactic Brat Pack movie ending.

It is difficult to tell if lead singer Tony West is wearing eyeliner in his dramatically unlit press photo, but his continual Culture Club references cannot be denied. Wishing is pumped with Do You Really Want to Hurt Me anguish, with West moping that he was depending on your love for my happy ending.

Yellow Coloured Saviour has a harder edge complete with cursing but the synthesizers and swirling samples remain intact. Without You relies on simulated record scratching to punctuate Wests ruminating on how he can deal/breathe/dream without his loves love. Lastly, Last Live Song is the kind of dramatic instrumental number typically used to highlight soaring nature scenes in IMAX movies appropriately, another late-20th century invention.

Overall opinion: rip-offs, though popular in 80s fashion, do not a memorable album make. The Days are numbered.
