ESQUEVEZ

Esquevez came about in early 1999, when a group of local Pittsburgh college students thought that it was a good idea to start playing music together. At the time, it was nothing more than a release of energy and a means of having a good time on what would have otherwise been just any other weekend night in college. Hosting parties in their living room and playing for an audience made up of friends, the band soon found that they had created a small fan base for themselves without even having to leave the comforts of their own home. Soon the house parties got too crowded for the band to play at and as they moved into the bars, their fans followed along. Since playing out at many different venues around Pittsburgh, Esquevez has quickly been recognized by many people as an emerging talent. The band bases its music on three fundamental concepts; the ability of funk to make people dance, the power and energy of blues-rock guitar, and the collective improvisational spirit of jazz. Having also been influenced by a wide range of musical styles, the band prides itself on its versatility to play within genres. Hence, the resulting sound is a unique hybrid of different infusions, which becomes evident in the songs that they write.  Finally, having just released their first independent album entitled, Something Tan, Esquevez plans on taking their show on the road in an attempt to create an even larger community for itself.
