Exit Clov: Self-Titled EP
[self-released]

NO
COVER ART AVAILABLE

Meet Exit Clov, a DC five-piece that combines a vast variety of musical stylings to take the listener on a delightful, aural adventure. The bands self-titled debut EP, released only six months after the birth of the group itself, may only contain four little songs, but dont let the numbers fool you. The four songs that introduce Exit Clov to the world could not be more charming.

The first track, Talkin Radio, puts out the vibe that is Exit Clov: mellow, yet swinging. Sugar-sweet vocals comprising gorgeous harmonies give a respectful nod to girl-group power pop of the 1960s la Ronettes. The poppy piano carries the beat pleasantly and espouses bits of subtly tripped-out guitars. The rest of the EP follows accordingly. Beast Simone takes on a slightly more atmospheric tone as twinkling keyboards meet surf guitars. The third track, entitled Dead by Association, tips its hat discretely to the Belle & Sebastian fans on the world. Keyboards swell gently under guitars as innocent vocals breach dark topics on this beautiful ballad. Exit Clov wraps up with Killer Starfish. The mysteriously sweet and youthful vocals persist as vocalists Emily and Susan pack some punch this time around. The dark rocking swagger of this tune could evoke comparisons to mid-1990s era Siouxsie and the Banshees if not for the ridiculously embarrassing pseudo-jam guitar solo.

Final guitar solo aside, Exit Clov make a fabulous first impression. The music is pure pop simplicity with breathy urgency and nonchalance at once. There is really only one thing that Exit Clov leave to be desired: a full length album!!!
