Feed: Self-Titled
[Pants on Fire]

Nothing here is vital or bitingly original, so it must be noted that you will save shelf-space by not purchasing this record. Sure, we could go on and on about how this record's self-conscious utterances are banal, but that would give them too much attention. The record deserves to be ignored, so it shall be left alone. Though the lyrics are very comical, it is certain that this was not the intent of the band. They probably wanted Phil Ek to engineer their record because they respected the wimpy tripe that he released with Built to Spill, Modest Mouse and 764-Hero and wanted to recreate some of that "magic." Unfortunately, Ek didn't flip on his "brilliant switch" as he did with Karp and Unwound, so Feed got exactly what they wanted: mediocre guitar strumming, inspiration-devoid lyrics and a lackluster production. File under: too wussy, even for Sunday mornings.
