Gerling at Knitting Factory in New York, NY - 6/19/04

Gerling

Gerling are three wild and crazy boys from Australia.  They have mad charisma and play ass-shaking tunes this just might translate into them being the best band ever! Alright, ever might be exaggerating just a bit, but Gerling is badass.

I had the pleasure of seeing them live at Knitting Factory in NY on June 19, and they absolutely scorched! Having had their latest album, Bad Blood! for a couple of weeks prior, I was ready to rock, and the band did not disappoint.  The only thing I will say that made me just a bit sad was they didnt play Whos Your Daddy, a fantastic song boo on Gerlingthere will be no playing doctors and nurses for them!  However, the rest of their short set (if it was 35 minutes, it was a lot another boo!) was action-packed with dancing and oles! There were, of course, one or two undesirables in the crowd who felt the need to shout things out at the cute/maniacal vocalist.  What exactly is wrong with the youth today? But, back to the singer he is terrifically bratty and silly, and he sings the songs to death!

So anyway, I know thus far that I love this band live and I adore their record. It is a delicious disco-rock-electro dish of happiness.  The three boys in the band are Darren Cross, Paul Towner & Burke Reid.  I dont know which is which, or what they do in the band but I aim to find out.  Look for my review of Bad Blood! here on Left Off The Dial in August until then we can play donkey kong and you can rescue me! and count the days until Gerling comes back to see us.
