The High Dive:
On and On EP
For some reason, Ive been having the roughest experience with this particular EP. And even while I listen to it over and over, I waver in my every thought about this The High Dive and their music. It must depend on my mood, my location, or the views I enjoy from the train window as I am whisked away to work at 6:30 AM on a foggy morning. Perhaps it is my love for a Bruce Hornsby song that got me through many college studios or the Beach Boys-tinged harmonies within On and On that help to take me back to them good ol days. The four songs feature such instrumental stylings as Spanish-inspired guitar rhythms and saxophone solos. With a soft voice that melts perfectly into each song, James Walls sings his beautiful poetic lyrics for the listener. The music and the vocals are meant to be together, and they compliment each other nicely. Together they help bring you into their world to frolic in the rolling meadow under the fluffy, white clouds. And I do enjoy a good frolic. The High Dive is like your favorite meal in an odd placeit just gives you that warm, fuzzy feeling from the top of your head to the tips of your toes.
