IDLEWILD

Scottish rockers Idlewild formed in Edinburgh in 1995. They spent much of 1996 touring around the UK, their debut single "Queen of the Troubled Teens," attracted the attention of the popular national radio station, Radio One. This media exposure led to nationwide recognition. The band's debut album, Hope Is Important, was released to widespread acclaim, their popularity and exposure continued to grow across the UK and Europe. The band's early influences included Black Flag, Sonic Youth, REM, and Nirvana. This is reflected in their post-grunge, indie rock sound. The band toured the US in early 2001 and were warmly received.
