Ink: Ever Now
[Digit]

Inks Ever Now is a dreamy album if there ever was one.  Shimmering, reverb-soaked, electric guitars, softly strummed acoustics, and ethereal female vocals constitute a majority of the music.  Electronic ambience and sampling sometimes hover in the background, but they are used sparingly.  The minimalist percussion, loose song structures, and free-floating ambience give the album a hypnotic space-rock effect.  Singer Drita Kotajis vocal style is somewhat reminiscent of Bjork, not necessarily in the timbre of her voice, but particularly in terms of her breathy, dramatic enunciation.  The lyrical structure of Ever Now moves the album even further away from the typical rock compositional framework.  While some vocal lines are composed in a rhymed meter, many feel closer in delivery to freeform poetry.  All told, the narcotic space rock of Inks Ever Now may prove to be a bit too ethereal for many.  But for those who appreciate free-floating experimental music and dont mind the peculiar vocals, Ever Now is recommended and will likely prove a welcome listening prospect.
