John Scott Cree: A Superfluous Man

This is the kind of music that should be listened to over a full pint glass.  Its the kind of music you might hear ricocheting off the dimly lit walls of a local British pub where everyone knows each other by name.  Crees release A superfluous man is filled with clever lyrics, infectious in their humor and delicate in their descriptions.  John Scott Cree is a man who loves making music, and no matter what your musical tastes may be you have to appreciate that.  His songs are light, funny pieces oftentimes about nothing more deep or complicated than the universal topics of cell phones and finding a pair of jeans that fit but they all manage to strike a human chord.  John Scott Cree understands the farcical circus that is everyday existence, and he mirrors it in his songs and lyrics.  There are no weighty descriptions of the human condition or heartfelt confessions of love for some mysterious girl the audience could care less about.  There is simply Crees strange interpretation of the world around us.  Songs like Im lumbered with you convey both his sense of humor and whimsical take on romantic situations:

When my friends said 'don't let your heart rule your head', I didn't really know what to do
I thought 'that'll be the day' but now I have to say, I can see their point of view
I was in need of a cuddle but I've had too much trouble, and the rewards have been too few
When they said 'start again' I should have used my brain, but I didn't and I'm lumbered with you

Pigeons go 'coo', cows go 'moo', they tell me dogs go find
Sheep go 'baa' and creeps go far, but I'm going out of my mind
..
I think I've got a fair moan you're eating me out of house and home, and I mean that quite literally
It was hunger made you start it but you could have left the carpet, now I've kissed goodbye to my settee
You see my front door's too small and you're stuck there in the hall, I can't get you to take you to the zoo
And you keep getting bigger if I'd a gun I'd pull the trigger, but I haven't and I'm lumbered with you

John Scott Cree is definitely one of a kind.  He is a man who has learned to not take music or life for that matter too seriously.
