THE JACKSON HIVES

Originally dubbed Jet, this Wilmington, NC alterna-pop rock band first formed in early 2000 and began playing local gigs.  Following changes in lineup and a name change, the Jackson Hives settled into a quartet consisting of singer/song-writer/guitarist Michael Swartz, drummer Jon Leeds, guitarist and backup vocalist John Golden, and Jeremy Matthews on bass.  The members of the Jackson Hives are no strangers to the various local music scenes in North Carolina, having played in various bands over the years.  The Jackson Hives' sound is reminiscent of some of the great alternative bands that broke into the mainstream in the early to mid nineties, including Cracker and the Gin Blossoms, but with an obvious brit-pop influence.  A Left Off The Dial review of the band's first EP, The Jackson Hives, is found below.
