JAKE LAUFER (& THE SHERPA UNDERGROUND)

Jake Laufer, otherwise known as the godfather of "folk disco," is a singer-songwriter with roots in both Canada and Philadelphia, though he currently resides in Washington DC.  Performing with an original sound that mixes eclectic lyrics with acoustic, alt-country, rock, and even punk, Laufer has gained a loyal following in the mid-Atlantic over the past few years.  Laufer performs both solo and with his three-piece power trio, the Sherpa Underground.  In 2000, the Washington Post included one of Laufer's singles "Walkabout," on the year's top ten list.
