(GREG ROTH &) THE JILLIANS

The Jillians were formed in late 2000 in the Washington DC area by songwriters Greg Roth (guitar, vocals) and Shawn Campbell (bass, vocals). The band released their debut CD, "June" on June 12, 2001, with David Hester (drums), Craig Welter (piano) and Kristen Snyder (violin). They subsequently released an EP in August 2001, recorded with new member Jason Finneyfrock (guitar, vocals) who replaced Snyder.  After originally starting as an Irish/Americana rock hybrid, the Jillians have moved into more power pop/jangle rock territory. Their music reflects the songwriting and playing sensibilities inherent in such artists as Crowded House, Van Morrison, The Byrds, Bruce Hornsby, The Jayhawks, Wilco, Freedy Johnston, Sloan, and Squeeze.
