KASEY CHAMBERS This Australian singer-songwriter has been determined to salvage the alt-country genre. Chambers began her career performing in a band called Dead Ringer Band, in which her band-mates included both of her parents and her brother. In her solo debut, The Captian, Chambers caught the eye of the Nashville dark suits and the ears of deprived country music fans. The album and its singles, "The Flower" and "Cry like a Baby," each found their way to the top spot on the country charts. In her 2001 release of Barricades and Brickwalls, Kasey maintains the rock-country influence of Emmylou and Gram Parsons. She rocks in the "Crossfire" and "Falls into you" with some twang.
