Kervin: I
Think I See Evil
Kervins debut album I Think I See Evil (a deceitfully cool album title) sounds as if it could have been a very early incarnation of System of a Down, though not nearly as good maybe a high school demo or such. Their press fluffs them up as original, incredible and my favorite: indescribable sound. Where does that person live? Do they not have radio or music television stations there? Here is a the perfect description I have generously lifted from their bio: combining Rage Against the Machine type political intensity and the South Asian flavoring of the lead singer and guitarist, creating a unique style of punk rock. I could go on, but I dont really care and I dont think you do either. Nothing new, right? Why do people throw around the term punk rock so carelessly? Punk rock is over, it happened over 25 years ago and nary a band who claims to be such, ever sounds it. Also, I really dont take to politico bands who tell me in their liner notes that I am being stifled, blah, blah, blah. How does Kervin know? I am not being demoilished by systematic devices, and even if I was, what business is it of yours, crazy stranger? Maybe what it comes down to is that Kervin have put out a politically bent album with music that isnt revolutionary and a singer that sounds like he is impersonating someone else. This is not interesting to me, and there is nothing original about it.
