Last Supper: Served
[Vamp]

The only thing that bugs me more than self-titled albums is when the album title is a play on the bands name.  Last Supper...  served...  geez, thats a good one.  Also, the album cover was very unimpressive, so I was nervous about this one.

Last Supper is five guys along with a slew of additional musicians.  Its clear that they put in a lot of quality time at the studio, as this disc sounds very professional from start to end.  Musically, Id say they come off as a mix between Collective Soul and Mental Jewelry-era Live.  They seem to want to spread their brilliant insights about the world through their songs but lack the poetic finesse as well as anything groundbreaking to say in the first place.  I think their pathetic jab at George W. Bush in FCT (fucked, get it?) is supposed to be mega-political, but its so lame that it doesnt even deserve to be in the song.  I guess you could say that lyrically, Last Supper left me a bit hungry.  Supper... hungry...  get it?

What really makes this album interesting is the contribution of Egyptian percussionist Diaa Tass.  Without his added flavor, this would be the most generic collection of songs under the sun.  The strings on Awake are also worth a listen or two.

I have no idea why they stole lyrics from Nine Inch Nailss Hurt for their Carousalambra.  Trent would roll over in his grave if he was dead.

Overall, a good-sounding release that lacks substance.  The Last Supper wasnt very filling.  Ha ha...  get it?
