Long Since
Forgotten: Standing Room Only
Slide CD into player, hit play. Slow drum beats slowly fade in, then in comes a guitar or two, then Job brings you nowhere fast. Youre tired every night and then you come home to an empty room. This could sound trite and empty, but main vocalist Josh Coy really manages to bring a reality to the lyrics that actually speaks to my heart in a way few vocalists do. Syracuse band, Long Since Forgotten, manages to continue this throughout Standing Room Only, with lyrics that speak to the typical teenage outcast and with very listenable background music tracks. It never goes into dangerous territory, in terms of keeping it accessible to the typical music fan, but the little bit that it does do is worth listening to the album for. The main problem with the album for me is that it seems to be a little over-produced. However, there are enough unique parts to this band that I think it overcomes the limitations of the studio to a good deal. One element worth noting: on two tracks, a female vocalist named Stephanie Gunther comes in and delivers some of the best vocals I have heard in awhile. When listening to this album, I frequently skip to those two tracks just so I can hear her voice. I would really like to see LSF use her more on their next album; she is a huge asset to the bands sound. I recommend listening to the sample tracks available on the bands website to see if you jibe with the bands sound as I did. Long Since Forgotten has delivered a fantastic album, which deserves to be on the shelves of many.
