 Lucky 7: Self-Titled
[Omega]

I never thought I would ever hear a band that would make Blink 182 sound good.  Then along came Lucky 7.

It takes a lot for me to even care about a pop-punk album, which is why I couldnt give two squirts of piss for this one.  Is it horrible?  Maybe not.  But it sounds like any other pop-punk album thats ever been released by any other pop-punk band since the beginning of time.  Except worse.

This self-titled gem actually reminds me of the only Face To Face album I ever heard if everyone in Face To Face had their balls removed.  Thats right, ladies and gentlemen:  there are no balls on this CD whatsoever, not a single one to share amongst the four of these guys.  And thats probably the biggest shame about Lucky 7 for a pop-punk album to matter, it needs to demonstrate a sort of boundless youthful energy and exuberant spirit that is sadly lacking from these fifteen songs.  This is the very definition of going through the motions:  connect the dots... insert harmony here... paint by numbers... insert tempo change...  FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, PLEASE MAKE SOME ATTEMPT TO KEEP MY ATTENTION!

On the positive side, the lyrics are great...  just kidding, theyre lame too.  The words are juvenile, but not intentionally juvenile like a Blink 182 song; theyre accidentally juvenile (which is much, much worse).  The lyrics arent all bad, but some of them are so clichd that it makes me grit my teeth and stare at the CD timer countdown, watching the painful remaining minutes that I have to spend listening to this album tick away.

My only explanation is that Lucky 7 is looking for a paycheck at least I hope thats whats going on here.  I pray that this CD is the bands way of fishing for a radio smash and financial success.  I could accept that.  But if this is supposed to be art, then I want to go burn down a museum in protest.
