 Masked Superstar: Beautified for Sound

The band is called Masked Superstar. Very clever. And they want me to believe that their names are Arch Slang, Glen Plaid, and Glance Swift. Sorry guys, but I know whats really going on here. Masked Superstar is the secret side-project of a really famous band. I mean, why do you think theyre called MASKED SUPERSTAR? Thats right boys and girls you heard it here first. I figured out the truth. I put the puzzle together. The cats out of the bag.

Apparently no one other than me has caught on to this. They thought I was just another dumb music reviewer without two brain cells to rub together. They thought they could pull the wool over my eyes like theyve done to the rest of the media. Unfortunately for them and their little charade, Im a little too smart for that.

Masked Superstar, like Ive said before, is really a successful, popular rock bands amusing side project. They get together and play songs for fun without having to deal with record label hassles or fan expectations. The songs are sometimes made up on the spot hence the extremely repetitive nature of their lyrics. Just a bunch of guys getting back to playing music like they did before they were famous, recording their material carelessly on an 8-track and self-releasing it just for laughs. I almost feel bad about exposing them like this, but maybe its time for Masked Superstar to be a little more honest with the public regarding their true identity.

This disc holds sixteen songs. Theyre all pretty short, and theyre all pretty friendly. Even the songs you dont like on your first listen will still be tolerable after the tenth time you hear them. For example, I hated The Christmas Pie from the second I heard the first verse (which is identical to the second and third verse...), yet I still find myself singing along with it. The songs trick you into liking them.

So who exactly is Masked Superstar? Well, I dont want to completely spoil their fun, so I wont divulge that information at this time. Let me just say that this album is an enjoyable departure from their usual music and that it shows a fun side of them that I had overlooked until now. Dont worry guys; the secret of your true identity is safe with me.
