Morricone Youth: Silenzio Violento
[Country Club]

Morricone Youths band name mixes and matches the famous spaghetti western film composer, Ennio Morricone, with that of modern noise-rock band Sonic Youth. The music created on the bands Silenzio Violento release, however, is much closer to movie sounds, than it is to any of Sonic Youths familiar feedback flurries.

In some instances, Dreiky Caprice (which cannot possibly be her real name) provides pretty female vocals. She inhabits a cabaret setting during Drink, for instance, and on Bonniewood, she sings over jangly guitar rock; Bye By (take 5) features a few of her fitting non-verbal vocal lines.

Stylistically, this release is all over the map. In addition to Caprices cabaret nod of Drink, there is Heist, which is positively jazzy as a result of sax and piano solos. Furthermore, Funny Thing stands out for being woozy and circus-like. The slow and sexy Super Villain, which even has film-related name to boot, is one of this releases many instrumentals.

Whereas a lot of todays modern music has obviously been inspired by youthful movie and television watching, Silenzio Violento reveals that Morricone Youth has also done its fair share of movie/TV listening.
