Pris: The
Kiss Off
Pris is Burke Thomas. The Kiss Off is a compilation of every Pris song ever recorded, only better! Better because all 24 tracks are together and remastered. If you are a fan of Burke or Pris or any of Burkes side projects (Vendetta Red being by far the most popular), you should totally run out and buy this album. However, if pop-punk sounds and melodies and maybe a tiny bit of keyboard just dont do it for you, dont bother. Burke is seemingly a renaissance man for the pop-punker generation. He is in three bands, one of which, as mentioned above, is quite the big deal with todays kids. The Kiss Off, the only Pris album, was written entirely and solely by Burke. All of the instruments? Played by Burke. The recording and production? Entirely handled by Burke and Burke alone. I would say he has certainly accomplished something wit this album. Even though the music is not to my liking, it will definitely appeal to anyone who likes Weezery pop music. There are a couple of tracks that attempt to be hard. I think Amputhetic is a fine example, but that is just not where Pris is headed. It doesnt really sound like their or rather his calling. So if this sounds like your bag, Pris is currently touring with Chevelle. Another interesting piece of information is that while exploring the Pris website, I came across a section titled Recipes. My curiosity got the better of me, and I discovered that there are actual recipes on the site. Much to my delight, their recipe for Holiday Cinnamon Apples calls for cup of Red Hots, one of my favorite candies! That is rad. Pris are okay in my book, just not in my CD collection.
