The Receiving End of Sirens: Self-Titled EP
[self-released]

The Receiving End of Sirens Self-Titled EP (or single?) given to me for review only has three songs; so this will be a short review for a short CD.  Ive listened to this in its entirely at least fifteen times since Ive received it, and honestly I barely remember the songs.  It sounds like someone copied and pasted all of the good screamo bands and put their collective sound on to this disc.  Copies are, however, never as good as the originals, and that rings true with this Boston quintuplet.  They arent exactly bad as players; in fact, theyre all very musically talented.  The singer has a well-rounded voice, the guitars are tight, and the rhythm section holds it together well.  The finished product, however, isnt very creative or memorable.  Emo, Emo, Emo.  Its everywhere.  Every band sounds the same.  I could draw 1,000 comparisons to these guys if I wasnt so tired of doing it.  So, in conclusion?  If you are a die-hard screamo fan, check them out; youll like it, I promise.  If you, like me, are looking for something new, you better keep looking.
