Rosemary's Babies: Talking to the Dead
[Ghastly]

Rosmarys Babies was the first band of Eerie Von, the Clockwork Orange-looking cat of Danzig and Samhain fame.  This release is a collection of songs from 1983s Blood Lust EP, as well as a few unreleased tracks, remastered by Alan Douches.  If youve never heard RB before, think of T.S.O.L in their horror punk days on speed.  Eerie and co. rip through these tracks like Jeffrey Dhamer after a pot of coffee.  With songs like Alice in Murderland and Dead Zone, its not difficult to see their relevance to the same scene which brought forth the Misfits.  Still, there are moments of socio-political consciousness on the record which prove that these guys werent just ultra-violence and necrophilia.  In fact, before Id read the press kit, the lyrics I vote yes for national security had me convinced that this was a new release.  One of my favorite parts of the album is the guys rendition of the Green Hornet theme (think of the instrumental Surf Bat by 45 Grave.)  If youre into super-fast death rock, or are interested in the lesser-known aspects of the Lodi, NJ hardcore scene, this is definitely worth a listen.
