RUSTED ROOT

Rusted Root's unique sound was influenced by the music of Africa, Latin America and the Middle East.  The six-piece band formed in Pittsburgh in 1990. The band began performing shortly after and their energetic live shows soon earned them a large underground following.  In response to growing public enthusiasm, the band self-released its debut album Cruel Sun in 1992.  Their second album When I Woke became popular in the alternative rock scene and eventually went platinum with the help of the hit "Send Me on My Way."  The band extensively toured the US and Canada including opening gigs with the Grateful Dead, Santana and the Dave Matthews Band.  Their last album, the self-titled Rusted Root, was released in 1998.
