Second Harvest: Self-Titled EP
[self-released]

Second Harvest hail from Virginia, and they sure like their acoustic guitar.  Maybe they are farmers, I certainly have no idea.  All three songs on their EP do well to showcase their sound, which is most oft referred to as acoustic rock; however I would just call it mellow acoustic music.  The term rock is flung around far too carelessly for my liking, and I urge people to make haste when using this adjective just because its music doesnt mean it should be labeled rock, nor does it mean it rocks! Such is the case with this mediocre EP of comforting guitar-based melodies and a bit o piano thrown in to mix it up.

The songs are very Dave Matthews band without the overwhelming talent, and very John Mayer without the breathy vocals (which is actually a very nice compliment if you knew me and my distaste for Mayer and his oxygen-deprived singing).  So the boys in Second Harvest Brad McCormick, Mike Ricucci, Ben Osterhaus and Kevin Lester do their best to bring you an adult type alternative folk demo with three tracks.  Obviously, I would wait for a proper album and even then I wouldnt buy it.  However, there are some people who might like this music based on my above comparisons if so, look them up online and see whats what.  Perhaps they will fall into themselves a bit more before they record a full LP and then they might just be the next Train or something who knows!
