Serotonin: Future Anterior
[Bifocal Media]

This release packs furious lyrics, ultra-technical songwriting, math rock riffs that make calculus majors take out a calculator, and a screaming voice that makes the most sullen emo kid perk up.   This is good.  Its that simple.  This is Serotonins 11th release, and though I havent heard the others, if theyre anything like this one, I am a fan.

The artwork, for starters: magnificent.  The songs are catchy and complicated.  The guitars (overdubs... the band is a 3-piece) work harmoniously together, overtop the thumping bass lines, and drum-sex.  Thats right.  Drum-sex.  Its tough to say what these guys sound like, but a few comparisons that come to mind are Mock Orange, Braid, Thistle, and Cursive.  Every song sounds urgent, and driven by a ferocity that gets under your skin.  Its difficult to turn this music off.

In conclusion, this is one of the best albums Ive heard in a long time.  Serotonin, you have a new fan.  Congratulations.
