The Stoneage
Hearts: Guilty as Sin
Yet another garage band who know how to churn out imitation-60s rock, but not well enough for major label sponsorship? Well, not exactly. The Stoneage Hearts might wear their influences on their sleeves (the harmonica-tinged Im for You sounds almost exactly like Thorogoods version of Who Do You Love), but that doesnt stop them from pumping out songs that are, if nothing else, fun. Take, for example, Rock n Roll Boys Rock n Roll Girls. On this song, the band tackles the Beach Boys the same way the Ramones did: it sounds like a fun day in the sun, but its a little bit harder and a little bit faster. While listening to the album as a whole, the thing that struck me the most was Dom Marianis excellent guitar work. This is especially prevalent on tracks like Green with Envy, where the trios cumulative efforts showcase just how dedicated they are to doing this thing right. All in all, if you check out Guilty as Sin, what youll find is a decent effort by an average garage band with above-average pop sensibility.
