TED LEO

Ted Leo has been a mainstay in the independent East Coast music scene for many years. He first came to prominence in the New York hardcore scene by playing with Citizen's Arrest and Animal Crackers in the late 80s. He moved to Washington in 1990 where he founded and led Chisel; a mod-punk band. Chisel eventually split in 1997, during their time together the band released two albums and embarked on numerous tours. He then founded a short-lived band, Sin Eaters, with his brother and then embarked on a touring stint with the Spinanes. In 1998 Ted Leo was left without a band and decided upon embarking on a solo career. He recorded a new self-titled full-length album in 1998 with a new band, the Pharmacists. Ted Leo's musical sound has encompassed punk, folk, soul, hardcore and has been likened to Billy Bragg and Alex Chilton.
