Temeritorium: Self-Titled
[4boxs]

Temeritorium: Jazz musicians, experimental pioneers, or just messing around?

Its difficult to say.  These recordings have a solid foundation and display an obvious talent, but they lack direction and clarity.  For better or for worse, the songs are four minutes of sporadic drumming, walking bass lines and noise.  Melodies very rarely shine through, and in their stead are odd squeaks and sounds.  The drums and bass work very well together and create a very nice minimal atmosphere.  The trombone player, while skilled, does little more than make sounds.  Then theres the mouthpiece guy.  According to their credentials, he is quite the accomplished musician, but on this album I hear little more than squeaks and tones with silly effects tagged on, like someone who just bought a multi-effects processor, and wanted to give it the test run.

In conclusion, this album may interest some folks folks who enjoy random noises overtop of drumbeats.
