Terry Eason: Bees Will Bumble
[Jam]

At times poppy like Jason Falkner or Brendan Benson, at others melodically complex and hyper like XTC, and sometimes all at once, Terry Easons Bees Will Bumble is both unexpected and surprisingly affecting, and an excellent, though not immaculate, collection of wiry and excitable indie rock.

The albums best song, Certain Limitations, is also one of the years best. Its a manic jolt of pop, utterly joyous and warranting of the XTC comparisons.  Though the album arguably peaks here, a few numbers are exceptional: Picture You and Me is moving and Who Died and Made You King features blissful guitar flourishes. Others come close (Windswept Agony), but only one misses the mark: Church of Offended Ministries, sounds promising, but isnt a bit too preachy perhaps coming from such a humble guy.
