 Tight Fit: We Have Ignition

The first thing you see when you go to Tight Fits website is the declaration WE play ROCK.  This Illinois 4-piece plays basic guitar rock to great effect.  All four members write and sing for the group, and while the vocals arent really that great, thats never been the focus of this type of music anyway.

Most of the lead vocals are split between Edie Standish and Eric Sanberg, and the lyrical topics range from the universal (love) to the slightly bizarre (wanting to live in a sitcom).  The songs, especially those sung by Standish, remind me of early 80s rock like the Cars and the Go-Gos.  The first song in particular (I See You) sounds like it could have been a track on Beauty and the Beat.

The production of the record is very good, although very basic theres no studio trickery here.  Again, the vocals arent that great, but they are presented quite passionately and this makes up for most of their shortcomings.  Keeping with the obvious influences, the songs are relatively short and focus more on the basics of the song than flashy solos the three instrumentalists seem more interested in the songs than making themselves look impressive which is as it should be.

Tight fit play solid, simple rock music, tailor-made for bars.  This will never make them the next big thing, but its nice to hear a group keeping this type of music going.  Fans of 3-chord garage rock should definitely check this band out.
