Tilhance: Every Other Sunday
[Comstock]

Let me start by saying this isnt my type of music its my dads.  That being said, this is a disc I plan on giving my dad.  While I wasnt a huge fan of the sound, I do respect what these guys have done with this release.

Tilhance is part country, part rock, and all camp the type of act I would expect to see at an outdoor festival of some sort.   This 4-piece rocks out in the ol Shenandoah valley.  Their sound is very radio-friendly, and I can see them going somewhere no problem.  This is a disc, however, that I would be afraid to leave in plain site for fear of my friends throwing me a beating.  Oh the woe of being 20 years old.

The first track is the best by leaps and bounds and actually had me tapping my foot, eager to hear the rest of the album, thinking I had misjudged.  While it was pretty straightforward and a tad clich, something in it caught my attention.  I dig the slide guitar and thumping bass drum.  This song is a winner.

From that point, the album gets pretty campy.  The low point is the heartfelt ballad Way I Feel.  The piano belts out its mournful melody while the singer laments his woman not loving him the way he loves her.  You know the deal.  Making love, looking into eyes, vowing to be there for you, etc.

In conclusion, if these dudes were playing a festival nearby, I would direct my dad to the show.  But if he asked me to go with him, I would tell him I had other things to do.
