The Tuesday
Suits: Your Silver Lining
Williamsburg, NY. I know this place is getting a bad rap in some circles these days for its white-belted hierarchical music structure, but sometimes generalizations (made by those of us as far removed as Colorado) are pried loose a bit. Maybe I dont exactly know everything that is happening out there. From amidst the presumed tweeded fashion rock dancing out of this area comes a true smart and melody heavy group. The Tuesday Suits already seem poised for making it in this harsh, generalization-drenched world of music, with cool, composed songs and attitude and an air of confidence. These four like-minded gents share the same wavelength when it comes to writing songs; theyve found their sound, are obviously quite happy with it, and theyre holding on to it. Without any holes, looseness or stretches, they create well-written, pop-edged rock with a post-punk swoon. The vocalist has a voice and cadence similar to Blake Schwarzenbach, which fits the music behind him absolutely perfectly. The guitars are subtly angular yet sweeping and pretty, in sort of a Tim Kinsella style (to toss around another name sorry). Even with these feeble references, the Tuesday Suits maintain their own style and gracefulness. The EP ends with an acoustic heart-on-the-sleeve, warm tune titled The Good Times a great closer. I suggest checking out a few of the tracks on their website: If You Love Me Take the Train, Miss Wyoming, and If This Night is Dark are great songs. Your Silver Lining is easily worth the price of an EP. Recommended.
