WILCO In 1994, the beloved early alternative act Uncle Tupelo disbanded, and four of its members formed Wilco, essentially picking up where Uncle Tupelo left off. The Belleville, Illinois band's first album, A.M., was released in 1995, and they were quickly slapped with labels like "alt-country" and "americana" despite that great pop-song writing aptitude of their music. Being There, the band's second album seemed somewhat an attempt to break free of these labels, as it drew on power-pop, soul, and psychedelia influences. Wilco has also released two albums with the influential Brit-pop folk artist, Billy Bragg.
