THE YUM YUM TREE The Yum Yum Tree was spawned in Atlanta, GA with roots reaching deep into the South. One Texas girl and three Georgia boys complete the band's family tree, which branched from 4-tracks to regular radio rotation in 8 weeks. Described as "one of Atlanta's brightest spots in the foggy pop underground," the Yum Yum Tree recalls the best moments of late 80's Pixies and Throwing Muses without borrowing directly from the source. In September of 2000, Gish met up with drummer Matt Harr, who offered the band the kind of dynamics and distinction that she had been looking for. Within six weeks, they were recording without a permanent guitar player. Matt and Andy then released their EP, which established considerable local interest in the band before any major shows were even scheduled. Andy met lead guitarist Kent Honea in December of 2000, after he answered an ad for a guitar player. For most of 2001, the Yum Yum Tree had aspired to be a four-piece, with friends from the Forty-Fives and King Lear Jet, filling in on organ and additional guitar. The Yum Yum Tree finally found their permanent fourth branch in Fall of 2001 with old time friend Scott Lewis.
